About Jones Boats
I have been a boat builder and boat designer for for 25 years. With my wife Carol I have sailed more than 50,000 miles, including six Atlantic crossings, always in multihulls. We race 8’ El Toro dinghies, and keep a fleet of kayaks, daysailers, and a motor launch.
Though I have built a number of fiberglass boats by various techniques, and wooden boats by nearly every technique, plywood seems to be the best material for most pleasure craft, especially for amateur builders. All the plans shown here are for plywood boats.
Two of my books --Boats to Go and New Plywood Boats -- describe the boats that I’ve designed or built. Multihull Voyaging describes today’s multihulls and explains how to handle them. If you are interested in books, plans or having a boat built, I hope you will write me.
