Greetings, and welcome to Crip's boat pages.
An introduction:
Hi, my name's Crip and these are my boat pages. You will see all sorts of boats on the next few pages, almost all wooden because they're the boats that I like best..
On the left and below, there are links to the main boat pages, including links to many of the boats in my life (as well as those I wish were in my life) including photo journals of their construction where possible. Above, you will also see some other links that I have found interesting or useful and thought that you might too.
Don't forget, if you have a wooden boat project that I can interest you in sharing with the world, drop me a line. Actually, why stop there? If you have any boat (especialy wooden boat) related material that you don't mind sharing, let me know. In the meantime, enjoy.

It's been a busy, boaty few months. Lots of sailing and lots of sailing related stuff. Not least of which is this ongoing project. "What's this?" you ask... well, go take a look and tell me what you think. It's not quite up to 'open to the public' standards yet, but coming together nicely.
Another project has been the setting up of a wooden boat building club. I started the Capt. Nomoto project but ran out of money. I was going to take her to pieces to open up the space, but everyone I met down at the harbour told me to keep her going and ask around for help. So, that's what I've decided to do. Again the web site isn't finished, but you can see what there is of it here, kindly hosted by the marina.

More as it happens.

Messed around with the site today. This front page has been juggled around and another project has been added to the boats under construction area. Thanks Marc!

Still not much happening here thanks to the horrible weather, but there's the regions largest race coming up on the 20th. The Tennjin Matsuri Yacht Race. We'll be there on Out of the Blue and there is a certain matter of honor to be taken care of there. More about that later :)

bin a while...
The rainy season is here with a vengance and it's been hard to muster much enthusiasm in the OotB crew this last month or two. Shameful really. Anyway, there's another race this w/e down Izumi Otsu and we are aiming to top our 5th out of 23 position attained last month. Looks like the crew will be Dom, Chris, Tim and I. 4 should be enough as I doubt there'll be much in the way of wind. Sticky is my prediction.
I've had some interesting emails from visitors to this site recently (must have been added to someone's links page) and my apologies must go out to Bulher Markus. Your picks will be uploaded to the 'Other People's Projects' pages just as soon as I can get round to it. Sorry for the delay, and your Grizzly looks lovely.
Nomoto has hit a reality glitch and I am currently saving the pennies to buy the next batch of timber. Frame steaming wasn't a success for a number of reasons which I'll go into in more detail on the relevant pages. Sufficient to say, I'm now reverting to the laminating ideas. So much for knowing better than the designer... I stand corrected but wiser.
That's about it for now, More as it happens (or a few days later maybe...)
C.
